Excavations in ancient Halasarna on Kos: The Hellenistic Sanctuary of Apollo and the Early Christian Settlement, University of Athens

The University of Athens excavations at the ancient Halasarna (present-day Kardamaina) on Kos have been conducted since 1985 under the supervision of Georgia Kokkorou-Alevras, Professor of Classical Archaeology, Sophia Kalopissi-Verti, Professor of Byzantine Archaeology, and Maria Panayotidi-Kesisoglou, Professor of Byzantine Archaeology. The excavation led to the discovery of a Hellenistic sanctuary of Apollo, as well as to part of the seaside settlement of Early Christian Halasarna, which was built on the ancient ruins.
