Byzantine Library, Paris
Funded in Paris in 1929 by the American scholar Thomas Whittemore in collaboration with the Byzantine Institute of Boston, Massachusetts, the Byzantine Library houses a comprehensive collection of nearly 50,000 works dedicated to Byzantine civilization. This collection particularly focuses on archaeology, early Christian and Byzantine art, Byzantine history and literature, the history of the Orthodox Church, liturgy, as well as the art and history of regions influenced by Byzantine civilization such as the Slavic countries, Georgia, Armenia, and the Near East. Additionally, the library holds resources on Coptic art and literature.
