European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM), Thessaloniki

The European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM), Thessaloniki, is overseen by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. The aim of the Centre is to promote scientific research in the fields of museology, museography, excavation, restoration, conservation, enhancement and study of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine sites, monuments and works at a European and international level. 

The constitutive objectives of EKBMM include international collaborations, programs with national and European financing as well as the creation of digital information systems. EKBMM organizes conferences, congresses and lectures and its members participates in corresponding symposium and conferences. It publishes a bilingual Newsletter in Greek and English, which outlines the Centre’s work, along with reports on archaeological research and the restoration/reconstruction of monuments in the countries in which it is active. In addition, EKBMM undertakes the publication of scientific studies and books related to Byzantine art and architecture and of the proceedings of the conferences that has organised
